After separating the garlic clove from the bulb, place it under the garlic press and place a little pressure on the clove. This will loosen the peel enough that you can pop the clove out.

Remove the peel in your compost, and place the clove back under the crusher, and place even weight on each handle, crushing the garlic.

To wash, rinse the garlic mincer under water, or place it in your dishwasher.
